Apply for a seat on Madison’s Common Council

A seat has opened up on Madison’s Common Council, now eligible District 19 residents are invited to apply for the position.

Due to family health issues, Alder Kristen Slack of Madison’s District 19 has resigned from the Common Council, effective January 10.

Now, eligible residents of District 19 are encouraged to submit applications to fill the vacant position until the term concludes on April 15, 2025.

Application process

Important dates:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 9 | Applications due by 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 23 | Applicant interviews and voting process

Interested Madisonians must email an application to ccec@cityofmadison.com with the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • E-mail address
  • Resume, including education, work, neighborhood, and civic experience
  • A statement on why you wish to serve
  • A statement of what you wish to accomplish
  • A statement on whether you plan to run for alder in the Spring 2025 election
