One of the most loveable things about Madison is the distinct character found in each neighborhood, district, and corner of town. They all have their own personalities and purposes — some would say it was written in the stars. Let’s take a look at how our neighborhoods align with the zodiac signs.

Aries: March 21-April 19 | Campus Area

Aries are known to be high-energy, domineering, and confident — which perfectly encapsulates the energy brought to Campus Area by Langdon Street’s Greek life demographic. Plus, the exciting nightlife alludes to the fiery personality of this fire sign.

Taurus: April 20-May 20 | Bay Creek

As a lover of loyalty, you’ll feel right at home in Bay Creek — a neighborhood known for its strong sense of community.

Gemini: May 21-June 20 | Midvale Heights

The extroverted nature of a Gemini means they tend to get along with different types of people — similar to this neighborhood. Midvale Heights spans over 600 acres and is home to young families, professionals, and retirees.

Cancer: June 21-July 22 | Lake Edge

The sentimental and gentle nature of this sign is the perfect match for Lake Edge. The tree-lined neighborhood boasts traditional single-family homes built in the mid-1900s giving it a classically cozy vibe.

Leo: July 23-Aug. 22 | Capitol Neighborhoods, Inc.

This sign is not afraid to let its presence be known — and nothing grabs attention quite like the Wisconsin State Capitol. In this area, you’re always a brief walk away from the city’s center which is full of 608 attractions like MMoCA and the Monona Terrace.

Virgo: Aug. 23-Sept. 22 | Nakoma

This earth sign is naturally grounded which makes the Nakoma neighborhood a perfect fit. The area is a stone’s throw away from the UW Arboretum which is the perfect place for a Virgo to self-reflect and calm their busy mind.

Libra: Sept. 23-Oct. 22 | Greenbush

Greenbush’s small town yet big city vibe is just as balanced as a Libra. With local bars like The Mason, coffee spots like Zuzu, and being moments away from the hustle and bustle of Regent Street — this quirky yet calm part of the 608 is fitting for this air sign.

Scorpio: Oct. 23-Nov. 21 | Schenk-Atwood-Starkweather-Yahara

This neighborhood is also known as SASY, which is pretty on the nose for Scorpios. Do a little digging and you’ll uncover plenty of intriguing intricacies about SASY, like how the community turned an adult movie theater into the iconic Barrymore Theatre.

Sagittarius: Nov. 22-Dec. 21 | Tenney-Lapham

This sign’s need for constant change and adventure will be fed with this neighborhood’s accessibility to Lake Mendota and the Yahara River for water activities and the linkage to the bike system.

Capricorn: Dec. 22-Jan. 19 | Sherman

Capricorns are ambitious and hardworking. With easy access to the North Transfer Metro Station, Dane County Regional Airport, and the interstate, this is the perfect neighborhood for practical hard workers who are always on the go.

Aquarius: Jan. 20-Feb. 18 | Marquette

The Marquette neighborhood embodies the eclectic nature of an Aquarius. It’s widely known for being home to Willy Street where you’ll find quirky shops like Meep Meepleton’s World of Fun, and the Treasure Shop. Pro tip: Stop by Ha Long Bay for City Editor Ally’s favorite curry in town, the TC4 yellow curry.

Pisces: Feb. 19-March 20 | Cherokee Park

Being an introvert, this sign needs a quaint spot to recharge the social battery. Surrounded by lakes, rivers, marshes, and golf courses, this neighborhood provides the perfect escapist moment for a Pisces to relax.
