Madison City Council officially approved the redevelopment of the block on which Essen Haus resides. The restaurant will be torn down to make way for an apartment building and hotel. (Isthmus)
Eat
Sam Brown, owner of Fabiola’s and Leopold’s, is purchasing Greenbush Bar. He plans only superficial changes, recognizing the community’s adoration for the Regent Street restaurant that’s been around since 1993. The deal will retain the Greenbush name and its signature pizza. (Wisconsin State Journal)
Shop
It’s Shop Local, Give Local Day. In an effort to boost and sustain the local economy, shop from 30+ participating businesses where 10% of each purchase supports the Dane Buy Local organization.
Thermo Fisher Inc. is adding 350 new jobs to Middleton thanks to its expansion. The biotech company cut the ribbon this week on a new 72,500-sqft facility for pharmaceutical product development. (WKOW)
Traffic
The intersection of University Avenue and North Lake Street will face a series of closures between Monday, June 24 and Friday, July 26 for construction on the Lake Street Sanitary Replacement Project. See the full list of scheduled changes.
