Traffic
  • Due to the Midwest Horse Fair, commuters can expect heavy delays on Highway 12/18, John Nolen Drive, and Rimrock Road near Alliant Energy Center today and tomorrow. Law enforcement will direct traffic, and suggests avoiding the area if possible. (Wisconsin State Journal)
Biz
  • This season of “Top Chef” is gouda for business, boosting the sales of local cheeses. Uplands Cheese was getting an order per minute the night its Pleasant Ridge Reserve was featured on the program. (Wisconsin State Journal)
Cause
  • The 5th annual “Day of the Badger” raised a record $1.7 million to benefit more than 150 causes across the UW-Madison campus. The event saw 7,215 gifts given by 4,715 donors. (WKOW)
Eat
  • Eat a butter burger on Monday and you’ll be helping the environment. For Earth Day, participating Culver’s (Mineral Point, Middleton, Oregon, etc.) will donate part of that day’s proceeds to preserve and restore the nation’s waterways. (Channel 3000)
Sports
  • Four local curlers will represent the US in the Everest North American Club Curling Championship in Colorado this September. Lois Buckingham, Celeste Marlow, Sidney Schroeder, and Joanna Seboth recently dominated in the Women’s Club National Championship, winning gold. (WMTV)
Outdoors
  • With the unseasonably warm winter, ticks are out early this year. The DNR urges hikers and hunters to be mindful. Wear long pants and shirts and, after coming back inside, check for ticks, take a shower, and throw your clothes in the dryer. (Channel 3000)

  • The Ho-Chunk Nation’s new app will make it easier to learn its endangered language. Hoit’e Woiperes is free and can be downloaded on Apple and Android devices. (News 8000)

B-Side, 514 State St. | 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
The store will hand out free goodie bags for early shoppers and offer 10% off everything in the store (except Record Store Day items) all day.

MadCity Music, 2023 Atwood Ave. | 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
