Get the most out of National Record Store Day in Madison

Madison’s indie music shops have a lot planned for Saturday.

Melomaniac, noun. An individual with an inordinate liking for music or melody.

Madisonian melomaniacs are encouraged to get out and support their favorite local spots for Record Store Day, this Saturday, April 20.

B-Side, 514 State St. | 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
The store will hand out free goodie bags for early shoppers and 10% off everything in the store (except Record Store Day items) all day.

Boneset Records at Madison Market, 222 North St. | 12-5 p.m.
CDs will be BOGO and cassettes and vinyl will be $1 off the sticker price.

The Door, 4509 Monona Dr. | 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
The shop, specializing in metal, punk, and hard rock, will have free food, and ticket giveaways.

JiggyJamz, 1734 Fordem Ave. | 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
A live DJ will set the mood as you browse house, techno, and hip-hop albums, and DJ equipment.

MadCity Music, 2023 Atwood Ave. | 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Gift bags and prizes including concert tickets and gift packs from local businesses including BarleyPop, Bur Oak, and Forward Craft & Coffee.

WORT-FM Record Store Day DJ Action, 222 North St. | 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Some of WORT’s most beloved DJs will be spinning grooves, including DJ Chiaroscuro, DJ Spincycle, and Bad Sister Heidi.

Strictly Discs, 1900 Monroe St. | 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
This is the big one. Lines often wrap around the block before the sun rises. Those in line will be entertained by DJ sets, giveaways, and food and drink. Inside, there will be tons of merch.
