The 608today way:
Bonnie’s Balls | Booth 408
Before the heat really gets to us, we’re starting hot and heavy with a cheese curd-filled donut.
Songbird Fruit | Booth 514
A cider float will be a refreshing bounce-back from the curd concoction.
Mishqui | Booth 709
Here, we’re opting for an empanada — handheld and easy to walk with.
Melly Mell’s | Booth 802
We have to get some fruit in us, so banana pudding it is.
Ben’s Soft Pretzels | Booth 101
Feeling full? City Editor Ally can confirm that a Ben’s pretzel will fit nicely in your purse or tote to save for later.
Check out the map to plan your own course of action.

College football season is kicking off in Madison this weekend as the Badgers gear up to face the Buffalo Bulls tomorrow, Sept. 2 at 2:30 p.m.
Safety first
New safety precautions at Camp Randall include metal detectors, additional student section aisles, and a streamlined approach to the fan text line (608-292-4499).
Skip the Uber upcharges, and opt for a shuttle instead.

Game day antics
Badger Bash | 12-2:30 p.m. | Union South, 1308 W Dayton St. | Free
Regent Street | Bars including Jordan’s, Sconnie, and Red Zone will be hosting tailgates. Think: An all-day block party, avoid the area if you’re not there for game day.
Pro tip: Bring cash. Many parking lot and Breese Terrace tailgates will be more willing to let you join the party if you slip ‘em some beer money.

I’m afraid my schedule may not allow for a Taste of Madison excursion this weekend. I’ll have to live vicariously through my favorite local food accounts on Instagram. I’m looking at you, Friendly Black Foodies.
