Centro Hispano of Dane County is preparing to break ground on its new facility. The groundbreaking was supposed to take place this past Wednesday, but the weather had other plans.
Here are a few fast facts about the organization and its new project:
The organization serves over 2,500 Latinx families each year.
Centro spent $1 purchasing the new location’s lots from the City.
At 25,000 sqft, this larger facility will allow an expansion of youth and workforce programs.
The cost of the new facility is $20 million.
The new location will be right around the corner from the current location on Badger Way.
In order to support this endeavor, Centro Hispano launched its Calli Campaign. The organization hopes to raise $20 million by the end of 2023. With the help of donations from the community, the organization has already raised over $16 million.
THE WRAP
Today’s issue was written by Ally.
Editor’s pick: This snowplow election has been cracking me up the past month. I’d like to give an honorable mention to Willem DePlow, Snow Pesci, and Aldo Leocold — a few names that didn’t make the cut.
