Music to Madisonian ears: free concerts

UW-Madison’s Mead Witter School of Music has many events throughout the year, many of those free.

Listen, if you want to hear some great music most any day of the week, oftentimes for free, we know a place.

Concerts are held frequently at the Hamel Music Center, presented by the Mead Witter School of Music . Performances might include:

Bands
The symphony orchestra plays on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Chamber Ensembles
There is a chamber percussion performance on Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Choirs
The school’s choirs had their winter concerts this last weekend.

Jazz
The Blue Note Ensemble plays at Cafe CODA on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Opera
I have a good Aida, you should watch their coming opera workshop performance on April 9, 2024.

Orchestras
All-university strings has a performance on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
