News Notes

Real Estate

386. That’s how many new housing units Madison added in May — the highest monthly total so far this year. That’s one step closer to the city’s goal to build 15,000 new homes by 2030, aiming to keep pace with population growth in Dane County. (Finance & Commerce)

Edu

Today, the Universities of Wisconsin’s Board of Regents will consider a proposal to increase tuition for resident undergraduates by up to 5% for the 2025-26 school year. If approved, the university system will see a funding increase of ~$256 million. (15 WMTV)

Community

The Dane County Farmers’ Market will relocate this weekend while Art Fair on the Square takes over Capitol Square. Find your farm-fresh favorites at Breese Stevens Field on Saturday, July 12, or hit up these local farmers markets. (15 WMTV)

Arts

The Wisconsin Triennial is on display at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art through Sunday, Sept. 14. Featuring works by 24 artists from across the state, the exhibit invites visitors to explore modern art through interactive labels, audio guides, and hands-on activities. (Isthmus)

State

Lights. Camera. Action. As part of Wisconsin’s state budget, a new $5 million yearly investment in film tax credits could bring more productions — and more jobs — to the Badger State. Plus, a film office will be established to support crews and showcase local stories. (15 WMTV)

Outdoors

Beetlejuice, beetlejuice... beetle watch? The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wants you to report any sightings of the invasive Asian longhorned beetle. Be on the lookout for the maple-munching menace, which has been spotted destroying trees in surrounding states. (15 WMTV)
