Saturday on the Square, the largest producer-only farmers’ market in the country, is returning to the isthmus this Saturday, April 13, and runs through Saturday, Nov. 9. From new faces to parking availability, here’s what to know before you go.
The details
Hours: 6:15 a.m.-1:45 p.m.
Parking: Those driving can check real-time parking availability near the square. Bikers can utilize the racks available in all city parking garages. Pro tip: Park further away from the Capitol and hop on a BCycle to avoid traffic.

There’s nothing like food truck season in Madison. | Photo by Europa Christoffel
As the isthmus thaws, street vendors emerge in Madison. Whether you’re a business owner interested in expanding, or a local wondering when and where to find vendors, here’s what you need to know.
Vending 101
Street vending season kicks off on Monday, April 15. You’ll find vendors — crafts, food trucks, merchants — around:
Mall Concourse (stretches from North Park to King streets)
Capitol Square
Library Mall (700 block of State Street)
Camp Randall
Southeast Campus
Check out the city’s vending site maps for specific parameters and vending locations of each area listed above.
Night Vending
New this year is the State Street Night Vending Program. Wednesdays through Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., five food cart vendors (TBA) will be stationed at Library Mall.
Are you a business owner hoping to get in on the vending action next season? Click the button below.
If the line is too long for Stella’s spicy cheese bread, I suggest walking over to Fresh Madison Market. They carry Stella’s products in the bakery section, and you don’t have to worry about dodging double-wide strollers to get your fix.
