  • The votes are in — Wisconsin’s 2023 spring election took place yesterday. Janet Protasiewicz won the state’s Supreme Court Justice seat and Satya Rhodes-Conway will be serving another term as Madison’s mayor. Check out the full results. (NBC 15)
  • Madison announced the MadiSUN program to transition to renewable solar energy in 2023. The goal is to expand access to solar energy for homes, businesses, and nonprofits. Key initiatives include a solar group purchase program and business grants. (Daily Cardinal)

  • Core Spaces is proposing the addition of two student housing developments near Bassett Street Brunch Club. If approved, the developer will have five student housing buildings within walking distance from each other including, The James, The Hub, and Oliv Madison. (Cap Times)

  • Applications for the May Madison Night Market are closing soon. Artists, artisanal food creators, and non-profits must apply by Monday, April 10 for consideration.

  • The Madison School Board is considering removing the COVID-19 vaccination mandate for staff members. Officials with the school district proposed eliminating the requirement, saying it’s outdated as the nation has changed its approach to the virus. (Madison.com)

Community Fridges in Madison

Madison Community Fridges (MCF) is an organization run by the community that supplies free, fresh food to locals in need. Madisonians can find the fridge at 944 E. Gorham St., stocked and maintained by volunteers.

🛒 Get involved

MCF is seeking volunteers to perform fridge wellness checks and go on food runs.
  • Wellness checks | Bring your own cleaning supplies. Wipe the interior and dispose of expired, opened, or not allowed items. Assure that the temperature is within 32-38 degrees.
  • Food runs | MCF will reimburse grocery store purchases up to $250-300. After stocking, take pictures of the fridge and your receipt. Send photos to MCF on Facebook, Instagram, or via email. Include your Venmo handle to be reimbursed within 24-48 hours.
