City officials and the Madison Public Market shared a progress report this week exemplifying how the project is coming closer to fruition.
Ground broke in October 2023 and it’s on track to be open to the public by May 2025. Currently, work is being done on the interior. “Sub-slab utilities have been installed and new construction work on the inside of the facility will begin in the next several weeks,” the progress report states. Exterior work is scheduled to begin come spring.
Daniels Construction was contracted to carry out the long-awaited development. Some of its other projects you may recognize include Bar Corallini, University Station, and the Duck Blind at Warner Park.
With a concerted focus on equity and inclusiveness, the market will have 30 permanent booth spaces along with multiple temporary vending options. Vending spaces encompass everything from outdoor food cart stalls to pop-ups and collaborations with local businesses.
