It’s no secret that Madisonians enjoy a refreshing beverage (or two), especially in the summer. We talked to Molly Moran of Table Wine about which of her favorite wines she’d pair with some of Madison’s most popular summer foods and events.
Note: We’ve linked to the wines currently available on Table Wine’s website. If you want to learn more about the unlinked wines and beyond, email Molly.
Events
Concerts on the Square | Wednesdays, June 26-July 31
“Le Naturel Zero Zero, because non-alcoholic wine can be delicious and food-friendly (great for a weeknight concert).”
A boat day
“French Pool Tote Rosé, it comes in an easy-to-carry bag that you can sip from all day long.” Think: A Capri Sun, but better.
Opera in the Park | Saturday, July 20
“Le Vigne de Alice Brut Nature Prosecco, for a touch of sophistication and joy.”
Sporting event tailgate | Think: Mallards, Brewers, Night Mares
“Where’s Linus? Light Orange Can, so you can have something low ABV that’s so crushable.”
A lakeside picnic
“Meinklang Burgenland White, it has a screw cap and tastes like summer.”
Food
Ian’s mac and cheese pizza
“Anything bone dry and bubbly, like Mercat Brut Nature Cava.”
Cheese curds
“Fried? Avinyo Petillant to freshen up your palate. Fresh? A fresh, fruity red like Joel Delaunay Gamay.”
Stella’s spicy cheese bread — a farmers’ market staple
“Olivares Rosado or any soft, fruity rosé.”
Babcock’s orange custard chocolate chip ice cream
“A little glass of Cesar Florido Moscatel Especial sherry would knock it out of the park.”
Brats
“South American reds are made for grilled meats, and La Playa Carmenere would be super tasty.”
