Madison’s newest hotel has a lot of moxie

Moxy Madison Downtown is a hip new spot on East Washington Avenue.

East Washington Avenue has a little more moxie thanks to the new Moxy Hotel.

Moxy Madison Downtown, a Marriott-owned boutique hotel, is in the heart of the Capitol East District, around the corner from the Sylvee, and a stone’s throw away from Breese Stevens Field.

Fun, fresh, and with foosball, it is a welcomed addition to the isthmus. Here are some highlights.

Bar Moxy
The bar and lounge doubles as the front desk. Visitors check in for a room key and receive a free cocktail or mocktail.

Lobby
The inviting music-forward space, has fireplaces, cozy seating, and a Badgers hockey tabletop game to play by the front window.

Fitness room
It includes all the machines you’d expect, as well as a small climbing wall and windows that are frosted for privacy.

Rooms
There are 151 hotel rooms equipped with 55-inch flat screen TVs, sound systems, free Wi-Fi, built-in USB ports, and more. Rates range from around $140 to $500 per night.

Pet-friendly
A portion of the pet fee is donated to the local Dane County Humane Society.

Event space
The 898-sqft event space is well-appointed for meetings, family gatherings, weddings, and more.

Coming in August will be a rooftop bar and restaurant with views of Lake Monona.
