Looking for a family-friendly activity downtown that the whole crew will enjoy? Look no further than Forward Madison FC’s Family Night. (Hint: The next one is happening in two weeks).

Earlier this spring, we attended the first Family Night of the season to take in the festivities and a great match (think: face painting, a petting zoo, a balloon artist, and so much more). With an early kickoff time (5 or 6 p.m.), you can bring the kiddos to cheer on the Mingos without messing up bedtime.

Pro tip: Family Special tickets feature entrance to the game, a meal, and a scarf for just $21. They’re available for all remaining home matches here.

There’s usually an opportunity for fans to meet the team and snag some autographs after the game. Pro tip: To ensure that you’ll be able to grab some time with the team, snag tickets to the Saturday, Sept. 30 game, which features a designated post-game autograph session.

What not to miss:

When you arrive, head to the far east end of the field where you’ll find the Kid Zone. Fair warning, you may have a hard time getting your little ones to your seats once they enter the Kid Zone. Located at the far east end of the field, this area is where you’ll find the balloon artists, a bouncy house, a balloon artist, and the pièce de résistance — the petting zoo.

Havens Petting Farm is the main attraction on family nights. Kids and families are welcome to treat special guests Lionela Bessi, Rose Cowbelle, and other furry farm friends to some hay.

Bonus: This area also has food + drink stands — ice cream for the kids, and beer for mom and dad.

What we’re still talking about:

The shining star of the game was the early start time. By the time the game was over and the autographs were signed, the sun still hadn’t set yet. These games are a great option for families who want to hit the town while still getting the kids to bed at a decent hour.

608 Forward FC drums

We can’t tell what was louder, the drums or the fans.

There was no lack of energy from the stands. The stadium band kept the energy maxed out, and some energetic fans equipped with megaphones ensured the morale stayed high all night.
