The Duck Pond is getting some additional residents this summer. The Madison Mallards are introducing Madison Softball as part of the inaugural Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) summer collegiate league.

“To be able to bring a groundbreaking women’s summer collegiate softball team to the best women’s sports town in America is such an honor,” says the team’s general manager Samantha Rubin.

The 42-game season kicks off on June 15 in La Crosse, while the first home game is scheduled for June 16. To accommodate the new team, stadium improvements, including an artificial turf infield and a movable outfield fence, are in progress.

✏️ Name ‘em

“Madison Softball” sounds a little too on the nose, doesn’t it? That’s because the official team name is TBD, and can be decided by you.

That’s right, fans are invited to submit team names that are reflective of our community to the Name Your Team contest. Submissions are due by Thursday, Feb. 1 and the winner will receive a 2024 ticket package.
