Today’s the day. Make Music Madison is when the 608 comes alive with locals playing, and listening to, music.

  • What: A free citywide day of music that’s part of the global Make Music Day, where celebrations occur at 1000s of places around the world.
  • Where: Over 100 locations throughout Madison.
  • When: All-day
  • Who: Music makers of all ages, skill levels, and musical persuasions.

Some highlights:

Make Music Madison at Goodman | 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. | Goodman Center (Ironworks Building), 149 Waubesa St. | There’s a full day of music with genres ranging from indie rock to accordion music.

Make Music Madison at Giant Jones | 4-9 p.m. | Giant Jones Brewing, 931 E. Main St. | Five local groups will be performing in the tasting room, including The Stop and Listen, Still Jaded After All These Years, Steady JB, Old Gray Cats, and Flannel and Rust.

Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra | 6:30-7 p.m. | King Street corner of Capitol Square | Led by maestro Kyle Knox, the young musicians will play Maurice Ravel’s iconic “Bolero.”
