Wisconsin, having the 3rd largest population of Hmong peoples in the US (behind California and Minnesota), hosts organizations like the Hmong Institute, Hmong Madison, and the Wisconsin Hmong Association.

It’s also a national hub of Hmong cuisine. Check out these local restaurants:

Hmong Kitchen, 2161 Zeier Rd. #13
Located inside the Global Food Market, the restaurant offers dishes like Hmong sausage, papaya salad, and kao poob, a chicken dish with vermicelli noodles.

Hmong Legacy Market, 2119 Fish Hatchery Rd.
The Asian grocery store’s deli that has everything from sesame sweet balls, to fish livers, to nava, a sweetened coconut dessert drink.

Madison Oriental Market, 1197 N. Sherman Ave. #4234
Pork laab, spring rolls, steamed layer cake, and plenty of other offerings can be had.
